Gifting Pokémon cards: ideas based on budget

Booster, box, single card or graded card: which Pokémon cards to gift based on budget and recipient.

Updated on 29.09.2026 · 2 min read

To offer Pokémon cards, the choice mainly depends on the person: a child who loves opening boosters, or a collector looking for specific cards.

For opening boosters

Booster in blister

  • One or a few boosters: the simplest and cheapest gift.
  • A box: several boosters, often with a promo card and accessories.
  • An Elite Trainer Box (ETB): about ten boosters, sleeves, markers, and a storage box.

These products can be found in the booster, box, and Elite Trainer Box sections.

For a collector

A collector often has a list of missing cards. A single card is then a safe choice:

  • a card of their favourite Pokémon, to be found in the cards by Pokémon;
  • a card from an extension they are completing;
  • a graded card, in its case, which can be kept and displayed. See the graded cards.

For a higher budget

A display contains about thirty boosters from the same extension. They can be opened together or the box can be kept sealed. See the display section.

Tips

  • Discreetly ask for the person's favourite Pokémon or extension.
  • For a valuable card, check the condition and photos of the listing, and compare with the price guide.
  • In December, order early: shipments take longer before the holidays.
